The Valiant Human-Animal Bond Award sponsored by Luipold Animal Health, manufacturers of Adequan®(Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan), was presented to the author of the article that best promoted the relationship between horses and people. The award was named for the blind dressage horse, Valiant, owned by Jeanette Sassoon. Sadly, Valiant passed away in November 2013, however his valiant spirit continues to inspire.

The 2014 winner of the Valiant Human-Animal Bond Award was author Silke Rottermann, for her discount estrace online estrace lowest prices . women’s health. just him and me estrace in canada estrace online fast shipping. those kids must’ve  article, “The Legendary Balagur,” that was published in Dressage Today. Rottermann, who lives in Germany, was unable to attend, however she accepted the award with these words. “Having been awarded the Valiant Human-Animal Bond Award from the American Horse Publications is a great honor in itself. Having been awarded this honor for a text on such a very special animal like Balagur makes it all the sweeter.”

“I would like to thank the judge very much for appreciating and acknowledging the life-time achievements of this horse, which is owed, in no uncertain part, to the late George Theodorescu,” continued Rottermann. “For me this story showed that there are no limits for a horse as long as somebody believes in him and creates that special rapport, which really can give a horse proverbial wings. Balagur and Mr. Theodorescu have taught us all an important lesson with their story.”

The Alltech A+ Equine Journalism Award was presented to the author of the best article that increased awareness and love of equestrian sport to mainstream readers. Lauren Giannini won the award with her article, “Little Horses Do Big Jobs,” published in Sidelines Magazine. The judge commented, “In looking at the criteria for this award for ‘increasing awareness and love of equestrian sport to mainstream readers’ this heart-warming tale is difficult to beat. Although there were other very well-written articles in this category, this story far and away takes the lead in appealing to the mainstream public and engaging them in the tale of these therapy horses. Really enjoyed reading about these little horses and their big jobs but also about the big hearts of these horse’s humans.”

Alltech presented the award to Lauren at their media dinner in Lexington, Kentucky in April.
