Federal police in Brazil carried out search-and-seizure warrants on June 7th at the headquarters of the Deodoro Sports Complex’s northern section, which will host 11 Olympic sports including the equestrian disciplines this summer. The FEI has had confirmation from the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee that the raid was specific to the consortium building in the northern section of the Deodoro complex, which does not include any of the equestrian venues.

Following an investigation, the Comptroller General’s Office allegedly found evidence of over-billing, falsification of receipts, and discrepancies related to the transportation of goods. The consortium claims the elevated costs were justified, and the builders say this set back will not delay the completion of the venue.
