Frederick Area Dressage Shows (FADS) Special Awards

.For the second time, three unique awards were offered in memory of three very special horses for Frederick Area Dressage Shows (FADS) dressage shows held during the spring and summer of 2014. Stephanie J. They were special creatures that represented themselves well and deserved to be remembered. Winners in each division were selected based on the highest average score in at least four classes judged by at least two judges during the spring and summer show season.

The Cowboy Charisma Award – Cowboy Charisma was an Appendix Quarter Horse mare owned by Corum. Charisma loved the spotlight of being the only one in the dressage ring and was very successful through first level before her untimely passing. However, as a mare, she did pose challenges for her rider. This award went to Deborah Braughler on her 17-year-old mare Waps Hat Trick. Braughler showed her mare training level, with scores in the low to mid 70’s! When told she was the winner of this award, Braughler said, “Thanks so much. I am so honored to receive this award for this very special mare. No matter the results, I have had a ball riding a horse with so much ‘try’ in her and most of the judges I’ve been under always comment on how much fun we seem to have and how hard she tries to do her job. I am so blessed in the last few years to have such a fun time on a truly great mare. She is so very deserving!”

Liuda Galinaitis and her OTTB Serge won this award. They showed Intro B at the FADS shows last year. Liuda was very excited to hear she won and remarked about how she did dressage over 20 years ago with PVDA and recently returned to this discipline. “Serge is a very versatile ex-racehorse,” she said of her 18-year-old partner.
